Exploring Sound Design at the University of Gloucestershire

Last week, our Lower Sixth A Level Media pupils attended an engaging and interactive sound workshop at the University of Gloucestershire. The event formed part of a long running programme organised by the Cheltenham Education Partnership in collaboration with the Cheltenham Film Festival.

During the session, pupils were introduced to the art of Foley sound, a technique used in film production to recreate and enhance everyday sound effects during post production. Pupils took part in a range of practical activities, including recreating sounds such as footsteps in snow using creative methods and materials.

They also developed their technical skills by learning how to edit and synchronise audio with moving images, gaining valuable insight into the professional processes used within the film industry.

The workshop provided a highly informative and hands on experience, which pupils found both enjoyable and inspiring.
