Dean Close Chapel Choir Performs at St Paul’s Cathedral

On a bright March morning, over 50 pupils from the Dean Close Chapel Choir travelled to St Paul’s Cathedral to sing Evensong in one of the country’s most iconic sacred spaces.

The service featured music by Herbert Sumsion, a composer closely associated with Cheltenham as both a teacher and conductor during the 1960s. This thoughtful programme added a meaningful local connection to a nationally significant venue.

The occasion was made all the more special by the strong support from the Dean Close community. Parents, trustees, former pupils, and a coach of Old Decanians made the journey from Cheltenham to attend the service and support the choir.

Our singers rose superbly to the occasion, performing with poise, confidence, and excellent intonation throughout. Singing in such a historic and renowned setting proved to be a truly memorable and unique experience for everyone involved.
